The New Year is off to an exciting start at Cerebella Design. After many months of communication across continents and time zones, we are pleased to announce our first Featured Science Education Organization and year-long collaboration with the International Year of Light 2015.
Since 1959, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) has declared International Years to promote topics of global importance, from cultural heritage to biodiversity. On December 20, 2013, the UN proclaimed 2015 the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies. This initiative is supported by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in addition to other scientific bodies from around the world.
The IYL 2015 will raise "global awareness about how light-based technologies promote sustainable development and provide solutions to global challenges in energy, education, agriculture, and health" (Official Website) with a focus on several major events in the history of optical science. This presents a wonderful opportunity for collaboration with Cerebella Design, as the innovative driving force behind our work is light microscopy, which allows us to bring a world seemingly invisible to the naked eye into view.
In the coming months, we will post news, events, interviews, and initiatives affiliated with IYL 2015. In addition, we will be supporting their mission from Cerebella HQ in Burlington, VT, bringing you the opportunity to support IYL 2015 as well by sharing science in style.
